Read the PAO symbol

Look for a small open-jar icon with a number like 6M or 12M. This is the "period after opening": how many months the product is meant to be used for once opened. Many soothing gels state 6–12 months, but follow your product's label. Unopened products may also have a printed expiry date.

Signs it has gone off

Frequently asked questions

Should I keep cactus gel in the fridge?

You don't have to, but cool storage is fine and makes the gel feel more refreshing. Avoid freezing and avoid hot cars or sunny windowsills.

How can I tell if cactus gel has gone bad?

A change in smell, colour, clarity or texture, separation or visible spots are all signs to throw it away.
